The flower

Nobody plants the cyclamen: it comes up on its own, in October, and fills the undergrowth along the Path of the Gods. Those purple flowers in our photos of the trail are its.

In Scafati the houses are named after the flowers in the courtyard. Up here the flowers are different ones, but the rule is the same: each house keeps the colour of its own.

The house

We’re in Campora, one of Agerola’s hamlets, a step from the church square. Not in the middle of nowhere: in a village, where there’s the bar, the bread, and people who live there all year round.

The apartment is on the first floor of the house Therese’s great-grandfather built in the early 1900s. It had stood empty for decades and was going down; from 2023 it took three years of work to put it back where it had been.

What’s inside

Wi-Fi, air conditioning and every comfort of today’s technology — inside hundred-year-old walls. Outside, private parking (around here that isn’t a detail, it’s nearly a luxury), a terrace, a view over the coast, and a garden with tables and benches: for the same reason everyone ends up in the courtyard in Scafati.

All of it on the fairytale mountain of the Amalfi Coast: seven hundred metres above the sea, the Path of the Gods five minutes away, Amalfi twenty-five. And in August, while the coast road below cooks in traffic, up here you need a jumper after dark.
