The Calore runs inland, through narrow gorges cut into the rock, with green, cold water. You walk along the river, jump into the pools, eat on the gravel bank.
It’s the alternative when the coast is full: fresh water, shade, and nobody. A different Campania from the postcard one, and worth the detour.
We were there on 23 August 2021, which is exactly the day of the year you want to be somewhere like that.
